How we work

Clear work. Evidence you can actually inspect.

Web Accessibility Fix is a small, independent website accessibility business serving the United States. Explore our working checker, a clearly labeled sample report and the practical steps we propose for scoping, testing and improving your website.

We focus on barriers that can make it harder to navigate, book, buy or contact a business — and on fixing the underlying website where access and scope allow.

The proposed engagement

How we handle your website

We agree on the exact work before a paid project begins. The free checker and a commissioned audit are different levels of investigation.

  1. Agree on scope before access

We discuss the platform, the pages and tasks customers need to complete, who can approve changes, the test methods, exclusions and a written quote. We don’t assume every page or third-party service is included.

  2. Find issues, then establish what they mean

Our free tool runs automated checks on one public page. For a full audit, we specify the additional keyboard, zoom, assistive-technology and task-based checks to be performed, then record the actual environments and observations. A machine finding alone is not a confirmed user barrier or legal violation.

  3. Fix the underlying website, when commissioned

When the agreed work includes remediation and access permits it, the goal is to change the relevant markup, styles, components or content — not cover them with an overlay. We review how changes will be staged, approved and released before editing a live site.

  4. Re-test and hand over a dated record

For fixes included in scope, we check the affected pages and interactions again and document what was resolved, what remains open and what needs a third party. The record applies to the agreed scope and testing dates, not to future site changes.

Deliverables

What you receive

The written proposal specifies which items are included. An audit-only engagement does not silently include code changes; a free check is not the report below.

01 / Scope and test record
Pages, templates and user journeys tested; benchmark; dates; browsers, tools and manual methods actually used; exclusions.
02 / Findings you can act on
Where each issue occurs, what was observed, its likely user impact, steps to reproduce, priority, a suggested fix and a WCAG reference where appropriate.
03 / Change record (when remediation is included)
What code or content was changed, with the handoff format agreed for the site and the people responsible for release.
04 / Re-test and open items (when included)
Dated results for the agreed fixes, outstanding barriers and platform or third-party limits that could not be resolved within scope.

Before code changes

Access, staging and rollback are project decisions

A public-page check needs only a URL, not your login. Remediation is different. Before requesting access or making changes, we need to agree on the smallest permissions required, whether a staging environment exists, who owns backups, who approves a release and how a change can be rolled back if it causes trouble.

These controls depend on your hosting, CMS and development workflow. We do not claim that our checker provides backups, staging or automatic rollback. If a safe release path cannot be agreed, we can discuss a developer-ready fix plan instead of making live edits.

Boundaries

What this work does not promise

  • Automated checks alone cannot establish full keyboard or screen-reader usability, or coverage of an entire website.
  • Third-party checkout, booking widgets, locked platforms and content outside the agreed scope may be outside our ability to change.
  • New content, plugins or redesigns added after the test date need their own review.
  • An accessibility report is technical evidence, not legal advice, a certification or a guarantee against complaints or lawsuits.

Our technical benchmark is the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, with applicable Level A and AA criteria selected for the agreed scope.
